Shashi Tharoor
Vidyapath’s first event was the launch of Indian politician Shashi Tharoor’s book Inglorious Empire: What the British did to India. The book discusses the British colonial rule of India and stemmed from the debate on whether India is owed reparations from the British. At the event, Tharoor’s eloquent discussion on the topic was moderated by journalist Anita Anand and Tharoor engaged in a riveting and thought-provoking Q&A session with the audience. The success of Vidyapath’s first event was valuable to its launch.
Diwali Bazaar
When you think Diwali, you think food, fun and festivities! Well, that’s exactly what Vidyapath’s Diwali Bazaar was all about: people mingling and wandering around stalls from small businesses serving Indian delicacies and selling handicrafts, as well as getting mehendi and face paint, watching dance performances, playing games and much more!
India at 70
Vidyapath hosted a Panel Discussion at the London Business School with High Commissioner Y.K. Sinha, Sam Tully, Bhaskar Dasgupta and Shachi Ambedkar speaking, and the discussion was moderated by Professor Narayan Naik. The discussion covered the history, economics and politics of India and what opportunities lie ahead for India to grow.
